Summary of Parish Child Protection Policy

The Parish of Glendalough values and encourages the participation of children and young people in parish liturgies, serving at the table of the Lord and in activities that enhance their spiritual, physical, emotional and social development.

The parish community recognises the duty to support and protect children and young people in a way that promotes their human dignity, integrity and irreducible worth as children of God.

The parish is committed to the development and operation of procedures to secure the protection of children and enable their full participation in the life of the Church. These procedures will be based on the principles and procedures detailed in the national Church policy document Our Children, Our Church, to which the parish fully subscribes.

The full text of the Child Protection Policy and Code of Behaviour has been under review since mid-December and will be available to be consulted in the Sacristy, or on this parish web-site from the end of January 2009. From that date, a copy will be provided to all staff and adult volunteers and may be had on request by any other parishioner.
